Duxbury was born in 1921 and throughout the 1950s became closely associated with the Kitchen Sink School alongside John Bratby, Derrick Greaves and Edward Middleditch. He studied at the Royal College of Art and exhibited at Roland Browse Delbanco and AEB where Tenement Dwellers was purchased by Arts Council in 1956.
