Born in London in 1932, Howard studied at the Hornsey College of Art and won a British Council Scholarship to Florence. He has had numerous one man shows including Plymouth Art Centre and the New Grafton Gallery since 1971. Howard's work is represented in the Imperial War Museum, Plymouth City Art Gallery and the National Army Museum. Howard is noted for his ability to depict subtle light tones and sunlight in both oil and watercolour.
