EMANUEL, Frank Lewis
Painter, printmaker, draughsman and writer, born in London. After the Slade School of Fine Art under Alphonse Legrose, Emanuel worked under W A Bougerou and T. Robert-Fleury. at the Academie Julien, Paris. He also exhibited at the New English Art Club, ROI, RI and many other galleries. Emanuel travelled widely in Europe, Africa and Ceylon. He was Chief Examiner for the Royal Drawing Society; publishing art criticism and topographical drawings in the Manchester Guardian and Architectural Review. Emanuel taught etching at the Central School of Arts and Crafts (1918 -1930). Extensively published. Tate Gallery hold examples of his work including 'Kensington Interior' (prestigiously purchased via Chantry Bequest). Extensively exhibited at the Royal Academyn and Paris Salon.
