In the early 1930's Buhler studied painting in Zurich and Basle, attended Bolt Court, St.Martin's School of Art and the Royal College of Art. He exhibited with the NEAC from 1945, showed at the RA from 1946, becoming RA in 1956. Three of his works were purchased under the terms of Chantrey Bequest and a number are in collections in the provinces and abroad.
