Born in 1927, Greaves attended the RCA on scholarship. He became a noteable member of The Kitchen Sink School along with Bratby and Middleditch, and exhibited with them at the Venice Bienniale in 1956. He was the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition winner in 1956. Taught for several years at St Martins.
